초록/요약 도움말
This study aimed to investigate the effects of ocean enjoyment as a blue space on life satisfaction and to empirically analyze the differences in psychological mechanisms underlying this process. To achieve this purpose, the following research methods were employed. The participants consisted of general visitors and marine sports participants who visited the East Coast of Korea(e.g., Gangneung). A total of 430 valid responses were collected and used for the final analysis. The data were analyzed using SPSS 27.0, AMOS 26.0, PROCESS Macro ver.4.2 developed by Hayes(2022). To ensure the validity and reliability of the measurement instruments, both exploratory factor analysis(EFA) and confirmatory factor analysis(CFA) were conducted. Internal consistency among items was verified using McDonald’s omega coefficient. In addition, a chi-square χ² test was performed to examine the homogeneity of demographic characteristics between the two groups. For variables with low expected frequencies, Monte Carlo simulation was applied to improve the precision of the analysis. For hypothesis testing, PROCESS Macro Model 4 was used to examine the individual mediating effects of the passive pathway(landscape perception emotional stability→life satisfaction) and the active pathway(activity immersion→resilience→life satisfaction). Finally, Model 59 was applied to analyze the moderated mediation effect according to the type of enjoymen(group), thereby identifying differences in psychological pathways depending on the level of participation activeness. Based on these procedures and methods, the following conclusions were drawn.First, both passive and active enjoyment pathways were found to significantly enhance life satisfaction through their respective mediating mechanisms.Second, in the passive pathway, landscape perception had a positive effect on emotional stability, and a partial mediating effect was found in which emotional stability increased life satisfaction.Third, in the active pathway, activity immersion significantly enhanced resilience, and the indirect effect leading to life satisfaction through resilience (.6620) was statistically significant. Notably, the direct effect was not significant in the active pathway, indicating a full mediating role of resilience.Fourth, to test differences in life satisfaction between groups(H7), a comparison was conducted between marine sports participants and general visitors. The results showed that H7 was rejected, as the life satisfaction level of the sports participant group was significantly lower than that of the general visitor group. This finding suggests that participation in marine sports itself does not guarantee an immediate increase in overall life satisfaction, and may reflect the physical energy expenditure and cognitive effort required for achievement during the activity. Fifth, the analysis of path differences and moderated mediation effects according to enjoyment type(H8) supported H8. Specifically, the indirect effect of the active enjoyment pathway(activity immersion→resilience) was found to have a substantially stronger impact on life satisfaction than the passive enjoyment pathway(landscape perception→emotional stability). Sixth, the moderated mediation analysis revealed that, in the sports participant group, the indirect effect of the activity immersion pathway(.9367) was more than 3.5 times greater than that of the landscape perception pathway(.2620). In terms of statistical significance, the index of moderated mediation for the activity immersion pathway did not include zero within the 95% confidence interval, indicating statistical significance. This result suggests that when the ocean is transformed from an object of passive viewing into a domain of immersion and challenge, resilience—an internalized psychological resource—functions as a key mechanism in determining happiness.
