The Effect of E Exercise Emotion of Water Sports Participants on Subjective Well-Being: The Mediating Effect of Exercise Flow and the Moderating Effect of Exercise Adherence

초록/요약 도움말

This study aimed to verify the mediating effects of exercise immersion and exercise adherence on the relationship between exercise emotion and subjective well-being among water sports participants. The participants were adult men and women engaged in water sports at the H Complex in G city, Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province. Using a non-probability sampling method, specifically convenience sampling, surveys were conducted from October 2 to October 5, 2024, and data from a total of 202 participants were analyzed. Data analysis was conducted using SPSS 28.0 and PROCESS macro version 4.2. Reliability analysis, frequency analysis, correlation analysis, and bootstrapping (5,000 resamples) were performed to test statistical significance. Exercise emotion (independent variable) was measured using the Positive and Negative Affect Schedule (PANAS), exercise immersion was assessed through cognitive and behavioral immersion scales, and exercise adherence was measured using the Exercise Adherence Questionnaire (EAQ), covering persistence, possibility, and reinforcement. Subjective well-being (dependent variable) was assessed with a life satisfaction scale. The results were as follows: First, male participants showed higher behavioral immersion than females, while group lesson participants exhibited the highest exercise immersion. Participants exercising more than five times per week scored highest in both cognitive and behavioral immersion. Second, in terms of exercise adherence, females showed higher intention to recommend than males. Participants with more than seven years of exercise experience demonstrated the highest recommendation intentions. Moreover, individual lesson participants and those exercising more than five times per week had the highest revisit and recommendation intentions. Third, positive exercise emotion significantly influenced both cognitive and behavioral immersion. Fourth, positive emotion also significantly impacted recommendation and revisit intentions, components of exercise adherence. Fifth, positive emotion had a significant positive effect on subjective well-being. Sixth, exercise immersion significantly influenced both exercise adherence and subjective well-being. Seventh, exercise adherence significantly influenced subjective well-being. Eighth, a sequential double mediating effect of exercise immersion and exercise adherence was identified in the relationship between exercise emotion and subjective well-being.
