Salmonidae, including rainbow trout, are a species that has been widely attempted in many farming ventures in Korea. This study was conducted to evaluate the effect of photoperiod and calcitriol on the growth of salmonids. Rainbow trout were treated with three photoperiods(12L:12D, 24L:0D, and 0L:24D), and injected with calcitriol. Atlantic salmon were experimented on for 8 and 12 weeks by setting different illuminance levels (50, 500, 1000, 1500 lux) and photoperiods (6L:18D, 12L:12D, 18L:6D, 24L:0D). Additionally, a primary culture was performed with calcitriol. In rainbow trout, a 24L photoperiod and calcitriol showed a positive effect on their growth, while in Atlantic salmon, conditions of 1000 and 1500 lux with an 18L:6D and 24L:0D photoperiod showed a positive effect on bone tissue.
