With the recent increase in the use of protein, there is a demand for supply of plant-based protein that is cheaper than animal-based protein. Amaranth is one of the crops rich in protein and is considered one of the most suitable crops to meet this requirement. Accordingly in this study in order to increase the usability of amaranthmin Korea and obtain basic data for cultivating varieties, Various characteristics expressed according to above altitude were evaluated for several useful genetic resources. This experiment was conducted on four types of genetic resources (A4, A5, A7, and A8) in Daegwallyeong (762 m above altitude) and Gangneung (3 m Above altitude) in 2022 and 2023. Gangneung had the accumulated temperature, total precipitation, pH, CEC, EC, Growth duration from seeding to heading and days to anthesis while Gangneung had the highest stem diameter, panicle length, panicle wide, and individual weight. However, the organic matter content and available phosphoric acid were high in Daegwallyeong, and the total precipitation was high in Daegwallyeong, indicating that the sunshine hours were short. The panicle density of A5 was denser in Daegwallyeong, and the stem length, total branch number, panicle number and 1000 seeds weight were higher in Daegwallyeong. Among the quantitative traits tested, there was no significance between altitude and genes in stem diameter, total branch number, panicle length, panicle number and individual weight. Experimental results show that the risk of lodging can be reduced and A5 is appropriate as a genetic resource with high individual and weight 1000 seeds weight.
