시장구조는 그 기존의 컨테이너 포트와 새로운 컨테이너 포트가 운영되기 위한 해당 지역의 시장 상태를 결정지어 주기 때문에 중요한다. 연구를 위해 지난 9 년간의 컨 테이너 물동량 데이터를 수집하고 HHI 지수와 시프트 효과 분석을 통해 분석하였다. 자료분석을 바탕으로 벵골만 컨테이너 항만이 과점 경쟁 시장 구조에 있다는 연구 결과가 나왔다. 게다가, 그 연구결과는 최근 몇 년 동안 HHI 지수가 적당히 집중되 어 있다는 것을 발견했다. 이동효과 분석에 따르면 COVID-19 로 인해 일부 항구에 부정적인 영향을 미쳤으며 2019 년과 2020 년 컨테이너 물동량이 첸나이항과 양곤항 에서 치타공항과 콜카타항으로 이동하였다. 본 연구는 벵골만 지역의 시장구조를 파 악하고 시장집중도를 분석하기 위한 선구적 연구이다. 그 결과를 바탕으로 관계자들 과 연구자들의에게 미래 방향성이 제시되었다.

The study focused on the Chittagong port from the Bay of Bengal region to study the market structure among the container ports. Market structure is crucial to identify as it defines the market states for new and existing container ports to perform in that region. For the study, the past 9 years of container volume data have been collected and analyzed through the HHI index, and shift effect analysis. Based on the analysis data, a study has found that the Bay of Bengal container ports are in an oligopoly competitive market structure. Furthermore, the result finds that the HHI index is moderately concentrated for the latest years. The shift effect analysis shows that COVID-19 impacted affected negatively some of the ports as container volumes shifted from one to another port in the 2019 and 2020 periods. This study is the pioneer study in the Bay 5 of Bengal region to identify the market structure and analyze the market concentration. Based on the findings, potential future directions for authority and researchers have been given accordingly.
