Recently, education has been striving to support the art field by emphasizing competency-centeredness, and an environment in which instruments can be easily accessed is being created through after-school classes in middle and high schools. Brass instruments are also receiving a lot of attention through after-school classes or orchestral activities, and due to the diversity of practice methods and etudes, the level of brass instruments in Korea has grown incomparably. However, when there is a problem with embouchure, which is the method of playing brass instruments, due to various factors such as lip and muscle injuries or poor practice methods, people have a hard time effectively utilizing the research done for this matter. While working as a brass instrument player, this researcher has suffered severely from embouchure issues, and has studied on this matter to contribute to embouchure related research by describing the process of overcoming problems on embouchure. This paper aims to analyze the cause and present solutions for brass instrument performers suffering from problems with embouchure, and concludes that they should focus on developing confidence without overdoing it. This study deals with three main topics. First, background knowledge on embouchure techniques for brass instruments is discussed. Second, we studied the psychological state that performers suffering from embouchure problems may face, particularly defense mechanisms and anxiety. Finally, interviews were conducted with performers who have experienced similar problems like this researcher, and the main points about the common problems were summarized. 최근 교육은 역량중심을 강조하여 예술분야 지원에 힘쓰고 있으며, 중 · 고등학교 방과 후 학교 수업 등을 통하여 악기를 쉽게 접할 수 있는 환경이 조성되고 있다. 방과 후 수업 또는 관악부 활동을 통해 금관악기 또한 많은 관심을 받고 있으며, 연습방법 및 연습곡의 다양성으로 인하여 국내 금관악기 수준은 이전과 비교할 수 없을 만큼 매우 성장되었다. 그러나 입술 및 근육 부상 또는 좋지 못한 연습방법 등 여러 요인으로 금관악기를 연주할 수 있는 방법인 주법에 문제 발생 시, 해결할 수 있는 방법 및 연구를 효과적으로 활용하지 못하고 있는 상황이다. 본 연구자는 금관악기 연주자로 활동 중, 이러한 주법문제로 많은 어려움을 겪었으며 주법문제를 극복하는 과정에서 연구하였던 방법 및 내용을 정리하여 주법 관련 연구에 보탬이 되고자 본 논문을 연구하게 되었다. 주법에 대한 문제를 겪고 있는 금관악기 연주자를 위한 원인분석 및 해결책을 제시하는데 목적을 두고 있으며, 무리하지 않고 자신감을 쌓는데 중점을 두어야 한다는 결론을 두고 있다. 본 연구는 크게 3가지 주제를 다루었다. 첫째, 금관악기 주법에 대한 배경지식을 논하였다. 둘째, 주법문제를 겪고 있는 연주자가 처할 수 있는 심리상태에 대해 연구하였으며, 그 중 방어기제 및 불안에 대해 논하였다. 마지막으로, 본 연구자와 같이 주법 문제를 겪은 연주자들에 대한 인터뷰를 진행하였으며, 공통으로 이야기하는 문제의 요점을 정리하였다. 주제어 : 금관악기, 주법문제, 방어기제, 불안
