Abstract Purpose: The aim of this study was to compare the differences in lip vermilion shapes according to anteroposterior dentoskeletal patterns and facial divergences in Korean. Materials and Methods: The samples were composed of frontal facial photographs of 117 adult female patients who satisfied all the cephalometric measurements for each group (Class I normodivergent, Class II normodivergent, Class III normodivergent, Class I hyperdivergent, Class II hyperdivergent, and Class III hyperdivergent). The photographs were analyzed to evaluate frontal shapes of the lip vermilions. The measurements were statistically compared between the groups. Results: Lower lip height tended to be greater in Class III group than Class I and Class II group. In normodivergent groups, lip height to width ratio was smaller in Class II group than that of Class I group, and the superior margin of the upper vermilion of the Class II group was more acute and curved than that of the Class I group. In hyperdivergent groups, Right cheilion-Stomion inferius-Left cheilion angle of Class III group was smaller in Class III group than that of Class II group. Lower facial height and interlabial gap tended to be larger in hyperdivergent groups. The ratio of the height to the width of the lip vermilion and the commissure height were larger in the hyperdivergent groups than the normodivergent groups. However, upper lip height and philtrum height did not differ between hyperdivergent and normodivergent groups. Conclusion: The frontal shapes of the lip vermilions were different according to anteroposterior dentoskeletal patterns and facial divergences.
