Abstract The purpose of the study is to evaluate the effects that reduced application time for the 8th-generation bonding agents that contain functional monomer and the employment of phosphoric acid etching exert on their adhesion on primary teeth. I selected 80 non-carious human deciduous teeth, which were classified into two groups, depending on the type of the bonding agents (G–Premio BOND, Single Bond Universal). Each group was further divided into four subgroups depending on the time of their application and the employment of phosphoric acid etching. The subgroups (n=10) were split in half. For five specimens, shear bond strength was measured before the fracture pattern was identified by photographing them with a scanning electron microscope. And the other five specimens were tested for microleakage. As for G–Premio BOND, the application time and the employment of phosphoric acid etching showed no significant difference in the bond strength, fracture pattern, and microleakage. As for Single Bond Universal, long application time showed significantly greater shear bond strength than shorter application time. For all the groups, shear bond strength was greater than the clinically acceptable shear bond strength (> 17 Mpa). G–Premio BOND may be used without phosphoric acid etching and by reducing application time.
