초록/요약
Lychnis cognata Maxim(Caryophllaceae) is a flowering plant native to Korea. Lychnis genus contains 25 species in the world and in Korea has 4 species L. cognata, L. fulgens, L. wilfordii, L. kiusiana. Because of its beautiful flower, L. cognata has been used as an art and ornamental material, which even produced three story books and legends about this flower in Korean mountain regions. Until now, Lychnis flowers have been used only for ornamental purposes and not have been developed as beauty materials. Therefore in this study, we studied Lychnis cognata for developing as a beauty functional material. As a basic research for using as a beauty material, optimal extraction and analysis methods were determined by varying sample size(0.1cm, 0.5cm, 2cm), time(10min, 30min, 60min, 90min, 120min), temperature(4℃, 25℃, 50℃) and solvent conditions(100% Water, 25% Ethanol, 50% Ethanol, 75% Ethanol, 100% Ethanol). And in order to compare the contents of major components of plant parts(Root, Leaf, Stem) according to the cultivation period(Odaesan, Nochusan, Wichon-ri) and harvesting time(May, July, December), on-line HPLC-ABTS analysis and DPPH radical scavenging assay were used. The major components of L. cognata root were isolated and identified, which were two phenolic compounds Ferulic acid, Dihydroferulic acid and one alkaloid Tunicoidine D. For more accurate evaluation of antioxidative activity of L. cognata extract, kinetics behavior of the DPPH radical scavenging activity was studied. DPPH radical scavenging activities of major antioxidants and extracts were evaluated by using radical scavenging patterns and IC50 values. The radical scavenging patterns of major antioxidants and L. cognata extracts were classified into fast-kinetics, fast + slow-kinetics, and slow-kinetics. The crude extracts of root and leaf of L. cognata showed fast-kinetic pattern similar to L-ascorbic acid. But Ethyl acetate fraction of L. cognata root extract showed fast+slow-kinetic pattern similar to the ferulic acid’s on DPPH radical scavenging activity, which explain that has high quantity of ferulic acid. In this study, we studied L. cognata, which had been known only as a wild flower and literary material, in order to develop it as an industrial material. Recently, L. cognata root extract was registered as a cosmetic ingredient on international nomenclature of cosmetic ingredients(INCI) name, and this research showed L. cognata as a promising beauty functional material.
