Cucumber downy mildew caused by the oomycete Pseudoperonospora cubensis is a potentially serious, most prevalent disease in Korea same as distributed throughout the world disease of cucurbit crops in the open field and under cover. Ps. cubensis is an obligate parasite and known to develop resistance to fungicides very rapidly. It binds in the oxysterol-binding protein domain of Oomycetes. This fungicide have technical features such as effective at very low a. i. user rates, systemic movement and redistribution to protect developing leaves, rainfast, flexible application methods, excellent preventive activity and residual disease control and so on. First objective of this study was to find out Baseline sensitivity about Ps. cubensis of the new anti-oomycete compound oxathiapiprolin using through leaf disc bioassay. Second is to confirm the effect of inhibiting spore germination. last, find efficient dilution factors through the field screening. The purpose of this study was to find out baseline sensitivity of the new anti-oomycete compound oxathiapiprolin against Ps. cubensis. In 2015~2017 experiment, we used two oxathiapiprolin formulation, oxathiapiprolin OD (10%) and oxathiapiprolin SC (4%). Dimethomorph WP (25%) was used as a reference. From 1 cucumber growing areas (Gangneung-si), total 5 isolates of Ps. cubensis were collected. The EC50 values for oxathiapiprolin OD ranged from 0.00079 to 0.00120㎍/㎖ respectively. In 2016 experiment, we used two oxathiapiprolin formulations, oxathiapiprolin OD (10%) and oxathiapiprolin SC (4%). From 3 cucumber growing areas (Gangneung-si, Gimpo-si and Yangyang-gun), total 22 isolates of Ps. cubensis were collected. The EC50 values for oxathiapiprolin OD ranged from 0.01208 to 0.01594㎍/㎖, oxathiapiprolin SC ranged from 0.01302 to 0.01468㎍/㎖ respectively. In 2017 experiment, we used three oxathiapiprolin formulations, oxathiapiprolin OD (10%), oxathiapiprolin SC (4%) and dimethomorph WP (25%). From 2 cucumber growing areas (Gimpo-si and Gangneung-si), total 10 isolates of Ps. cubensis were collected. The EC50 values for oxathiapiprolin OD ranged from 0.01280 to 0.01390㎍/㎖, oxathiapiprolin SC ranged from 0.0035 to 0.15253㎍/㎖, dimethomorph WP ranged from 0.13029 to 0.15490 respectively. EC 50 values of two formulations and Ps. cubensis isolates from 3 locations were similar. However, the resistance development of cucumber downy mildew collected at some farms in Gangneung proved to be serious. so it needs one more time for baseline sensitivity for better result. field screening a result, the reference concentration of 4,000, which is similar to 1,000 and 2,000, is appropriate.
