중학생들의 무용수업 참여동기가 활동만족과 가치인식 및 지속의도에 미치는 영향

The Effects of Participation Motivation in Dance Class on Activity Satisfaction, Value Awareness and Intention to Sustain Participation in Middle School Students

The purpose of this study was to examine the influence of the motivation of middle school students for participation in dance class on their satisfaction with class activities, value awareness and intention of sustained participation in an effort to provide some information on how to accelerate the revitalization of dance education. The subjects in this study were 578 students who were selected by convenience sampling from the population of middle school students who resided in the region of Youngdong, Gangwon Province, including Sokcho, Gangneung, Donghae and Samceok. Four factors were selected as the background variables of demographic characteristics: gender, grade, the type of dance and the form of instruction. The instrument used to check their motivation of participation in dance class was Jo Seung-hee(2001)'s inventory, which was used with some modifications. The instrument used to assess satisfaction level with class activities was the questionnaire used in Kim Ju-hee(2006)'s study and Jo Jin- young(2010)'s study, which was used with some modifications as well. The instrument used to evaluate value awareness was questionnaire that modified Gye Jin-kyung(2003)'s questionnaire, Kim Sook-kyung(2001)'s questionnaire and Nho Da-ji(2000)'s questionnaire to serve the purpose of the study. The instrument used to check their intention of sustained participation was Choi Seong-hoon(2004)'s questionnaire that was an adapted version of Corbin, Welk, Lindesey and Corbin(2000, 2003)'s Physical Activity Adherence Questionnaire. As for data analysis, frequencies, Cronbach alpha coefficient, factor analysis, simple correlation analysis, multiple regression analysis and path analysis were utilized. After the collected data were analyzed, the following findings were given: First, the motivation of the middle school students for participation in dance class was found to have exercised a significant influence on their satisfaction with class activities. Second, the motivation of the middle school students for participation in dance class was found to have exercised a significant influence on their value awareness. Third, the motivation of the middle school students for participation in dance class was found to have exercised a significant influence on their intention of sustained participation. Fourth, the motivation of the middle school students for participation in dance class was found to have had a causal relationship with activity satisfaction, value awareness and intention of sustained participation.
