Effects of Information on Anxiety, Blood Pressure & Pulse in Cerebral Angiography Clients

초록/요약

ABSTRACT Effects of Information on Anxiety, Blood Pressure & Pulse in Cerebral Angiography Clients Lee, Sun Yeon Department of Nursing Graduate School Gangneung-Wonju National University This study was a quasiexperimental research using non-equivalent control group to evaluate the effects of information on anxiety, blood pressure and pulse in cerebral angiography clients. Data collection period was from June 12, 2014 to November 13, 2014. The participants of the study were 21 people of experimental group and 21 people of control group whom hospitalized to receive cerebral angiography. The information using researchers’ developed materials for cerebral angiography was provided only to experimental group. Measured variables were: anxiety, systolic blood pressure, diastolic blood pressure and pulse rate. Research tools for anxiety were Korean Spielberger’s state anxiety inventory consisted of 20 questions of 4 point rating scale from Kim, Jung Taek and Shin, Dong Kyun (1978) and 10 point visual analogue scale (VAS). The collected data were analyzed from SPSS WIN 21.0 by using numbers and percentage, χ²-test, t-test, ANCOVA, and repeated measure ANOVA. The results of this study were as follows. 1. State anxiety of the experimental group who had received information on cerebral angiography was 46.00±8.11, while the anxiety of the control group was 47.28 ± 9.89. The difference between two groups was not statistically significant (t=-0.46, p=.648). 2. Visual analogue scale anxiety of the experimental group was 5.19±1.55, while that of the control group was 6.04±1.53. The difference between two groups was not statistically significant (t=-1.67, p=.102). 3. Systolic blood pressure of the experimental group was 129±15.34, while that of the control group was 141±17.70. The difference between two groups was statistically significant (t=-2.28, p=.028). 4. Diastolic blood pressure of the experimental group was 80.95±10.85, while that of the control group was 82.33±9.39. The difference between two groups was not statistically significant (t=-0.44, p=.662). 5. The pulse rate points of the experimental group who had received information on cerebral angiography as: 72.71±9.89, While the point of the control group as: 68.09±8.16, The difference between two groups was not statistically significant (F=.51, p=.480). From the above results the providing information using educational materials was effective to decrease systolic blood pressure in clients who received cerebral angiography. Therefore, this study material could be used as a clinical nursing intervention for clients in cerebral angiography. The recommendations through this study were as follows: 1. The repetitive researches using educational materials developed in this study for cerebral angiography clients are required to be used as appropriate nursing interventions in nursing practice 2. In addition to reduce anxiety before cerebral angiography a study on nursing interventions can be promoted well-being of the subjects after angiography is also required _____________________________________________________________________ Key word: Cerebral Angiography, Information, Anxiety, Blood Pressure, Pulse
