스토리텔링으로 가르치는 초등 영어교육

ABSTRACT Elementary English Education Applying the Method of Storytelling Lee, Jeong Ju Major in English Education Graduate School of Education Gangneung-Wonju National University The purpose of this study is to design an English teaching model applying the storytelling technique and to examine the effect of it on elementary third grade students‘ cognitive domain and affective domain by utilizing it. For this research, first the researcher considered related theories of teaching-learning and storytelling through reviewing literature and then examined developmental characteristics of elementary school students. The experiment was conducted on 32 third graders in order to investigate the effectiveness of the model. Two groups (a control group and an experiment group) participated in the experiment for two months. They were compared in terms of affective domain and cognitive domain. Through this study, it was revealed that English learning for elementary third graders through the storytelling technique has a positive effect on improving their affective domain and cognitive domain. In this respect, teachers should try to do their best in teaching elementary students storytelling. Furthermore, they should develop teaching methods that may best utilize the storytelling.
