초록/요약
Purpose: The purpose of our study was to evaluate the photodynamic therapy (PDT) effects of a combination of erythrosine and a standard dental halogen curing unit on viability of S. mutans in the biofilm phase. Methods: To investigate the optimum treatment parameters, we compared the effects of PDT by concentration of erythrosine, irradiation time of light and treatment time of erythrosine. Results: 1. The higher concentration of erythrosine (0, 10, 20, 40, 80 µmol·L-1) in the presence of light irradiation induced greater effects in reduction of viability of S. mutans. There was statistically significant difference in 20, 40, 80 µmol·L-1. 2. The higher irradiation time of light (0, 5, 15, 30, 60, 75s) in the presence of erythrosine induced greater effects in reduction of viability of S. mutans. There was statistically significant difference in 30, 60, 75seconds. 3. The higher treatment time of erythrosine(0, 1, 2.5, 5min) in the presence of erythrosine induced greater effects in reduction of viability of S. mutans. There was statistically significant difference in 2.5, 5 minutes. Conclusion: The results of our study proved PDT on S. mutans using erythrosine and the dental halogen curing unit conventionally used in dental clinics is effective in the condition of erythrosine concentration 20-40 µmol·L-1 , irradiation time over 30 seconds, erythrosine treatment time over 2,5 minutes.
