This study is aimed at finding out scientific factors during the process to connect the integrated activities based on gardening with the current education, along with an influence of the activities on children's scientific exploration ability and attitude, with teachers' meaningful experiences added, and then examining whether the integrated activities based on gardening are corresponding to nature-friendly contents stressed during educational process, and how much such activities are proper for development of scientific thinking. The subjects to study are as follows. First, what influence have the integrated activities with gardening on children's scientific exploration ability? Second, what influence have the integrated activities with gardening on children's scientific attitude? This study selected two five-year-old classes of a public kindergarten located in Kangnung, Kangwon-do, and randomly assigned 22 children in an experimental group and a control group, respectively. Children in the experimental group conducted integrated activities with gardening, while those in the control group did not conduct integrated activities but gardening. Experimental treatment is conducted for 12 weeks, twice a week, 12 times in total. ANCOVA (Analysis of covariance) was performed to data collected from pre-test and post-test, by means of SPSS statistical program, in order to find whether there is a difference in the post-test, setting a pre-test point of the experimental group and control group as a co-variant factor, according to each subject. The results of this study are as follows. First, as the result of verifying the difference between two groups, the experimental group with gardening showed significantly higher marks in terms of scientific exploration ability, than the control group. Second, as the result of verifying the difference between two groups through ANCOVA, the experimental group with gardening showed significantly higher marks in terms of scientific attitude. In conclusion, it was found that the integrated activities with gardening was effective for improvement of children's scientific exploration ability and attitude, and for raising nature-friendly attitude, positive and scientific quality to think and solve the problems independently. The results reveal that gardening is a proper and meaningful teaching method to improve children's scientific exploration ability and attitude, and is worth applying to the children's education field.
