초록/요약
As an assistant equipment of helping viewers to easily understand the program, captions of program delivered essential information or reference information that can't be easily delivered through sound alone. As program's captions are utilized in various functions centering on recreational program, the problem is in that the captions used here give the feel as if watching caption images of dictating the lines of the entertainers intact by surpassing assistant level of images. First, the types of broadcasting captions that are being displayed in various ways in the current recreational programs were understood through this study. They have been divided into mainly language information process type captions and situational information process type captions, and each type was further fragmented and presented. The language information process type captions have been divided into spoken text original text presentation type and spoken text summary presentation type, and the situational information process type captions have been divided into spoken situation description type and spoken content evaluation type and presented accordingly. Second, the functions of broadcasting captions were examined based on the understanding of broadcasting caption types. Recreational programs are conducted through informal conversations among the entertainers in free atmosphere through their natural conversations or behaviors. However, there are situation in which a voice of an entertainer is buried by the voices of other entertainers in spite of the fact that the entertainer is telling an important story. Captions perform the function of confirming the spoken information to the viewers and the function spoken information articulation by summarizing and presenting the main spoken contents to the viewers. Also, sense of psychological and spatial distances are formed between the entertainers and viewers as the viewers are not the in the same location in which the entertainers speak. To supplement such weakness, captions at times perform deduction function of spoken information for viewers to deduce spoken situation by presenting the behaviors or spoken contents of entertainers through the eyes of producer or entertainers or at time viewers. Third, recreational program captions currently have functions of various aspects along with various types, and have various influences on the viewers. The positive aspect and negative aspect of recreational program captions on the viewers were examined. Going forward, studies on what kind of actual effect broadcasting captions with various types and perform various functions have on our language life should be continually conducted.
