허브식물을 활용한 아로마요법이 여성의 복부비만에 미치는 영향

The effect of Aromatherapy and used with herb on women's abdominal obesity

The following research was conducted to test the effects of aromatherapy massage on the decrease of abdominal obesity for women concerned about obesity. Exercise treatment and aromatherapy abdominal massage were used concurrently as the experimental group, and the exercise treatment was used as the control group to test the effect they have on women's abdominal obesity. The entire test was conducted before and after the experimental group and the control group. The participants included 10 people for the experimental group and 10 for the control group for a total of 20 people from K University Lifelong Education Center at Gangneung city for the purpose of understanding the objective and method of the research. The research lasted from September 10 to October 25, 2007. The research started with a general survey on obesity and the actual data collection was collected before and after a 6-week experiment. Height, weight, BML, body fat percentage, waist and hip measurements were taken for each of the 20 participants. Inbody 3.0 was used for the body constitution and tape measure was used for the body measurement. 6 drops of Juniper Berry, 6 drops of Cypress and 3 drops of Grapefruit were used as the essential oil from the herb plant for the aroma abdominal massage. As for the carrier oil, 1.5% of Jojoba oil was blended to be applied to the abdomen for 15-minute massage sessions. The exercise treatment was conducted 3 times a week for a period of 6 weeks with each session lasting 80 minutes. SPSS WIN 14.0 was used for data analysis and paired-t test and t-test were used to test the similarity of normal characteristics between the two groups. The results of research are as follows: 1) The control group that conducted the exercise treatment hypothesized that the weight, BML, body fat percentage, waist/ hip measurements and WHR would decrease. 2) The experimental group that received exercise treatment and aromatherapy abdominal massage hypothesized that the weight, BML, body fat percentage, waist/ hip measurements and WHR would decrease. 3) The hypothesis that experimental group, which received exercise treatment and aromatherapy abdominal massage, would experience a more drastic decrease in the weight, BML, body fat percentage, waist/ hip measurements and WHR than the control group that conducted the exercise treatment. As the results show, the obesity management program that involved aromatherapy abdominal massage using the exercise treatment and 1.5% blending of carrier oil with the essential oil was effective in decreasing women's abdominal obesity. Therefore, the program could be used to decrease abdominal obesity and improve health for women.
