초록/요약
탄광시는 산업화 속에서 모순된 노동현장을 살아가는 탄광노동자의 궤적을 문학으로 형상화하고 있다. 문학은 사회를 진단하는 좌표, 시대의 거울 이라는 명제를 탄광시가 극명하게 보여준 셈이다. 탄광시의 배경이 된 석 탄산업은 한국 산업화의 중심에 위치하면서 개발기부터 폐광기까지 급변하는 시대변화를 겪었다. 탄광시는 탄광 도시의 형성과 몰락,노동자의 유입과 해체, 탄광노동자의 소외된 삶 등을 통해 산업사회가 지닌 모순의 축소판을보여준다. 탄광 현장이 지닌 특수성으로는 지하의 위험한 노동현장 외에도 탄광촌 이라는 지역공동체적 특성을 꼽을 수 있다. 탄광지역은 석탄산업이라는 단 일 산업으로 도시 공동체를 형성하였으며, 탄광노동자를 중심으로 생활공 간을 이루는 특색을 지닌다.탄광시는 주민들이 집단 공동체를 이루면서 살아온 독특한 삶의 양식, 산업사회가 낳은 인구의 이동, 탄광도시의 형성 과 몰락, 탄광노동자와 탄광촌의 정체성, 산업화 진행과정에 파생된 소외계 층 등을 문학적으로 형상화하고 있는 것이다. 지금까지 1천여 편의 탄광시가 양산되었으며, 2007년에는 탄광시를 정리 하여 수록한 『한국탄광시전집』까지 발간되었다. 민중문학?노동문학 등 의 담론이 핵심을 이루던 1980년대에 탄광문학에 대한 연구나 비평이 없었 던 점은 아쉬움으로 지적된다. 탄광이 사라지고 탄광촌 공동체가 와해된 현 시점에서 탄광 민중의 삶을 기록하고 문학적으로 형상화한 탄광문학에 대한 정리는 시급한 과제로 남아있다. 본 연구는 전집에 수록된 작품들을 대상으로 탄광시세계를 조망하면서 작품에 투영된 시대적?사회적 상황을 중심으로 작품을 분석하였다. 탄광노동 현실, 탄광촌 현실, 탄광노동자의 정체성과 노동의식, 노동운동, 석탄산업의 구조 등을 작품에 연계하여 분석 하면서 문학의 사회화를 지향하고자 했다. 탄광시?탄광문학에 대한 개념을 요약하면 다음과 같다. 탄광시(탄광문 학)는 탄광노동현실을 인식하는 현장성, 탄광노동자의 입장에서 노동의식 을 담고 있는 계층성, 탄광노동현실과 탄광촌의 문제를 극복하려는 비전을 담은 전망성을 지닌 문학으로 정의할 수 있다. 즉 탄광시는 탄광노동?탄 광노동자?탄광촌의 세계를 충실히 반영하는 시작품인 것이다. 탄광시의 전개양상을 시대별로 살펴본 바 작품의 양산은 1980년대 들어 서 증가되기 시작하여, 1990년대 들어서는 창작담당층이 탄광노동자와 탄 광촌 주민으로 확대된 것을 확인할 수 있었다.석탄산업합리화가 이뤄진 2000년대 들어서도 탄광시는 폐광이 남긴 문제적 현장을 찾아 꾸준하게 창 작되었다. 탄광시를 살피면서 작품에 나타난 현실인식에 특히 주목하였다.?광부? 를 상징하는 시어와 노동자의 사회적 지위를 통한 탄광노동자의 정체성을 규명하고자 했다. 탄광시는 이 땅의 소외 노동계층인 광부의 소외된 삶, 그 리고 죽음과 투쟁하는 막장현장을 구체적으로 기록하고 있었다. 징용노동, 도급제로 인한 임금착취, 수직적 위계질서, 안전보다 생산 중심의 산업정 책, 어용노조, 노동자의 인권 침해, 대책 없는 폐광 등의 각종 모순과 부조 리한 현상을 문학적으로 형상화하고 있었다. 탄광시는 노예적 노동의 현실에 대한 탄광노동자의 자각과 저항을 드러 냈다. 또 조작된 탄광노동자의 이미지라든가 사회변혁에 대한 노동자의 갈 망, 노동자 계급의식의 성숙과정을 보여준다. 석탄산업합리화 이후에는 폐 광현실과 노동자의 소외의식을 구체적으로 드러낸다. 폐광촌의 환경오염, 실직 노동자 문제, 진폐재해자, 폐광촌에 세워진 카지노의 폐해 등에 대해서 지속적인 관심을 보인 것이다. 탄광시는 문학의 사회적 역할이나 문인 의 지식인 역할을 노동의 최전선에서 수행하고 있었다. 상당수 탄광시의 기저에는 탄광 노동자 삶의 비극적 전망, 한의 토로, 자 조적 어조 등이 드러나고 있다. 이는 개인적 비극이 아니라 부조리한 산업 사회에 대한 소극적 저항의 형태로 볼 수 있다. 탄광노동자가 지닌 사회적 열등의식은 감정적이고 일시적인 저항이긴 하여도 노동자의 구체적인 목소 리로 전달된다는 점에서 큰 울림을 지닌다. 이러한 울림은 탄광노동자의 계급적 각성과 연대의 중요성을 확인하는 기제가 되고 있다. 따라서 탄광 시에 자조적 표현이 많은 것은 인간의 존엄을 찾아나가기 위해 몸부림치는 노동자의 현실을 구체적으로 드러내기 위해 의도된 장치인 셈이다. 이를 통해 탄광노동자는 노동계급을 인식하면서 계급대립과 모순된 현실의 한계 상황을 넘어서려는 의지를 지니게 된다. 탄광시가 지닌 미학적 특성으로는 유랑의식, 불안과 긴장의 공간, 절망과 극복의 정신세계 등으로 나눠 조망했다. 유랑 이미지를 통해서는 산업화 시대에 떠돌고 있는 탄광노동자의 안정되지 못한 삶을, 사택공간을 통해서 는 불안과 긴장 속에 살아가는 탄광노동자의 부조리한 삶의 현실을, 막장 정신을 통해서는 막장의 현실 속에서도 절망하지 않고 극복하는 탄광노동 자의 건강한 정신세계에 대해 고찰했다. 탄광시는 삶이 황폐하고 시련이 가중될수록 이에 대한 극복의지 또한 강 화되는 노동자들의 정신을 보여주었다. 절망의 한계 바닥까지 가서 체념하 고, 그리고 그 체념 위에서 다시일어서는 탄광노동자의 의지를 보여준 것 이다. 탄광시는 절망의 끝에서 삶의 희망을 향하는 탄광노동자의 막장 정 신을 문학적으로 승화시켰다. 막장의 삶을 동영상처럼, 사실화처럼, 일기처럼 그려낸 탄광시는 탄광노 동현장에서 일어나는 일상에 대한 단순한 기록에 그치지 않았다. 부조리한 사회에 대한 문학적 고발과 저항이었으며, 죽음의 막장을 극복하는 생명력 을 보여주는 문학적 승화였다. 모순되고 부조리한 산업사회 속에서 실패와 절망, 죽음의 한계를 딛고 일어서는 탄광노동자의 강인한생명력을 놓치지 않았다. 탄광시는 열악한 노동 여건 속에서도 미래의 전망을 가꿔나간 탄 광노동자의 삶을 형상화했다. 이는 막장노동의 한계를 딛고 건강하게 일어 서는 노동의지를 반영한 것이다.깨어있는 시의식을 통해 탄광노동자의 위 대한 정신을 보여준 점은탄광시가 지닌 미학이자 한국문학의 소중한 유산 이라 할 수 있다. 1천여 편의 탄광시는 모두 현실과 밀접한 상응구조를 지니고 있다. 이는 탄광시가 탄광노동자와 탄광촌의 삶이 전달하는 대사회적 발언이라는 것을 극명하게 보여준다. 탄광시 분석에 있어 시대적?사회적 배경이 무엇보다 중요한 것은 그 때문이다. 이 연구는 한국문학의 연구와 비평이 간과한 탄 광시에 대한 하나의 영역을 확보하는 데 그 의의를 둔다. 탄광시가 민족문 학, 노동문학, 지역문학 등의 연구에 다양성을 제공하면서 한국문학의 외연 을 넓힐 수 있을 것으로 기대한다.

Coal mine poems are literature contribution of miners' inner mind which is irony in the society of industrialization. This can be meant that coal mine poems proved the thesis; literature is the mirror and coordinates of that age. The background of coal mine poems, coal mining industry was centered in industrialization of Korea and experienced the fluctuation of age changes. Coal mine poems show the small version of the irony that current society has. The distinctiveness that coal mine field has could be dangerous underground working place and collaboration of coal mining town. Coal mine collaboration is created with only one industry, coal mining, and formed living colonies of miners. Coal mine poems contribute the type of residents' life, migration of residents, begins and ruins of coal mine colony, and other details to a literature work. There are about a thousand of coal mine poems so far, and in 2007, 『Completion of Korean coal mine poems』 was published. In 1980s the time when people literature?labor literature composed main writings, lack of criticizing or research for them were inconvenient. After the coal mine has disappeared, the recollection of coal mine poems which are recording of coal mining colony residents' life is our non-solved problem. This research was done by targeting every literature work that written on complete collection as considering the condition of that time period. Reality of coal mine labor, coal mining colony, and coal mine labors' thinking, movement, and life are connected to this research. The summary of coal mine poems?literatures are below. Coal mine poems(literatures) can be interpreted as the literature that contains thinking of labors in that time period which is a try of overcoming the hard work. In short, coal mine poems are the products that reflect the world of coal mine labor?coal mining colony. In chronical view of development of coal mine poems, the number of poems are increased from 1980s, and in 1990, the range was enlarged to the colony residents and labors. Even after 2000s, the period of ‘coal mine industry rationalization' was set, the coal mine poems were continuously created. As I look in coal mine poems, I give significance on the word, ‘coal miner' and ‘coal mine labors' status in society. Coal mine poems had isolated life of miners who work for their lives in detail. It contributed various irony and unfairness of coal mine industry as literature. Coal mine poems also showed the reality of hard labor as a slave and the resistance that occurred from these. Also faked image of miners or their desires for reformed society were seen in coal mine poems. After ‘coal mine industry rationalization' was set, it showed the actuality of abandoned mine and labor's hard working conditions. Coal mine poems executed social role of literature in the first place. In many of coal mine poems, there are tragic dramas of mine workers, their dissatisfaction, and self-scorn. This can be seemed as a resistance to the industrial society in small degree. Even though mine workers' dissatisfaction remains just temporary, it has significant effects. These effects act as a matter of confirming importance of status awakening of mine workers. Therefore the fact that there are many self-scorn expressions in coal mine poems is intended method of expressing the reality of labors' working condition. Through it, mine workers can have the will of overcoming the reality. I viewed aesthetic peculiarities of coal mine poems in three categories : concept of wandering, a company house, and spirit of blind end in a mine gallery. Through these three images, I considered the unstable life of coal mine workers. Coal mine poems expressed will of labors that is a try of overcoming as the trial gets bigger. Poems showed the will of overcoming. These poems contributed mine workers' desire for hope as the literature. Coal mine poems which drew out the life as a movie, diary, and essay, are not just simple records. It was literature resistance of unfair social conditions and try of overcoming the reality. Coal mine poems embodied the will of mine workers who lived and worked in difficult condition, but couldn't do anything to solve it. These facts of literature expression are precious estates of Korean literature. A thousand of coal mine poems contain corresponding structures that related to the reality. This fact proves that the coal mine poems are messages from mining colony and miners. It is why the time and social background are important in investigating coal mine poems. This research has its meaning on securing a domain of coal mine poems which are usually connived in criticizing and researching. I believe that coal mine poems can provide variety of literature researches and enlarge the denotation of Korean literatures.
