강릉지역 초등학교 체육관련 특기적성 계발 프로그램의 운영실태 및 개선방안

A Study on Actual Conditino and Prospects of After-School Physical Education and Sports Activities in Elementary School of Kangnung City

초록/요약

In order to activate athletic talent and aptitude development programs at elementary schools in the Gangneung area, Gangwon-do, the present study surveyed the current state of special talent and aptitude development programs in the area focused on elementary school teachers, parents and students and, in particular, examined people’s interest in and desire for athletic talent and aptitude development programs, identified problems in the program and suggested solutions for the problems. This study was made with 713 subjects selected through stratified cluster random sampling from teachers, parents and students at schools in kangneung area that were running after-school classes and executing athletic talent and aptitude development programs currently as of 2006. The survey was conducted using a questionnaire. The author made a preliminary questionnaire fittingly for the contents of this study based on questionnaires used in previous researches (Oh Jong-seop, 2001; Lee Yeong-jin, 2002; Jang Jae-il, 2002; Lee Eun-gyu, 2003; Min Jung-hong, 2005). Using the preliminary questionnaire and selecting a school in the kangneung area, we conducted a preliminary survey of 10 teachers, 10 parents and 10 students, and analyzing the results and asking advice of the supervising professor, made the final questionnaire. Of data collected through the survey, those answered redundantly or not answered and those considered unreliable were excluded from analysis, and effective answers were coded according to the coding guidelines. Coded data were processed according to the purposes of analysis using SPSS 12.0 for Windows. Analysis was made according to the demographical factors of the teachers, parents and students, and x^-2test was used for analysis by question. Statistical significance was determined based on significance level a=.05. From the results of research methods and data analyses described above were drawn conclusions as follows. First, athletic talent and aptitude development programs at elementary schools in the Gangneung area should be executed not only for cultivating each student’s individuality and helping them express themselves but also for promoting health and developing special abilities. Second, athletic talent and aptitude development programs at elementary schools in the kangneung area should be diversified and systematized further and, for this, it is urgent to raise and find capable program instructors. Third, in executing athletic talent and aptitude development programs at elementary schools in the kangneung area, facilities and environment are very poor. In addition, for diverse programs, teachers need to change their ideas. Furthermore, new athletic talent and aptitude development programs should be developed and utilized, referring to the preference of parents and students and programs at elementary schools in other areas.
